Thanks much to you and all your staff -- our 50th birthday surprise for our friend came off perfectly and your restaurant and staff made a huge contribution to that.  One of our considerations in picking a restaurant was to find one willing to go along with what we needed -- from past experience many do not wish to extend themselves.  From my first contact with you it was clear Dirty Dan's was a great choice for us.  Even though it was a busy Saturday night in the middle of your summer season, nothing was missed and everything was handled so graciously:  from our arriving early to set up the table with balloons, to our waitress bringing out the cake with candles lit, birthday card and the room key delivered on a separate plate with a doily (nice touch!), to storing the suitcase that I don't think we'd even told you would be arriving.  And, our waitress was friendly, fun and professional, the food was excellent, and the young man who bussed our table (often someone you don't even notice and who won't engage) was friendly, funny and attentive.

 

As someone who has consulted and taught in the customer service arena for many years, I'm not easily impressed with service, nor am I quick to hand out praise.  In your case, it is well deserved.

 

I don't think any of us had been in your restaurant for years, but we were all impressed enough that you'll probably see us again.  My husband and I went to Dirty Dan's once in a while years ago (after Joe McConkey sold the Fairhaven), but haven't been in for probably 15 years.  Being the meat lover he is, next time we are in town I think we'll have to dine with you again.

 

Again, thanks to you and all your staff for helping to make our 50th surprise a success!

My husband and I dined with you last evening while on an overnight from our home in Issaquah to celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversary.  The meal was wonderful, but what I enjoyed even more was watching Kathy, the hostess, whom I understand is an owner of the establishment. 

 

I watched with delight as Kathy spent time with some older customers who are clearly Sunday regulars.  And watched the care with which a birthday candle bedecked dessert went upstairs to other customers.  I was further charmed when an even older gentleman came in and waited until Kathy was available to seat him and then watched as they chatted at different times during what would otherwise have been a lonely meal for him.  And when he was done, she walked him off to whereever he needed to go to make sure he negotiated his way safely.  In a culture which shunts it's older citizens aside and so rarely takes time to realize that a small kindness can be the biggest moment in someone's day, I think Kathy is an extraordinary gem.  She shines!

 

If our travel plans take us to Bellingham again, we will visit Dan's again!

While on vacation earlier this year, my wife and I had a wonderful dinner at your restaurant.  We have since referred friends traveling in the Pacific Northwest.  Kathy the hostess was very gracious and welcomed our family and guests with a wonderful spirit of hospitality. We look forward to a return visit to Dirty Dan Harris' in the near future.

Kevin and I celebrated another anniversary at your restaurant last night.  I feel inclined to tell you how beautiful our evening was!  I usually order steak and lobster (always yummy).  I ordered bay scallops/garlic mashed/spinach/caesar.  Kevin ordered linguine and clams and we shared the crab stuffed mushroom appetizer.  I cannot express how perfect everything was!  We savored every bit of it!  The service was great as always.  Every occasion  at your restaurant has been awesome (even on the very busy Valentine's Day dinner)!  I just wanted to let you know that we will choose your restaurant every time!!!!!  Thank you so much for making us feel special.

  Just a note from a boarder jumper who tends to cross over from Canada to the US looking for good places to shop and eat from time to time.  My friend and I stopped in a few nights ago to try out and old established restaurant that we had not visited for some years- Dirty Dan Harris. This eatery goes a long way back in our memory of fine eating places in the North West. We were greeted of course by you at the front door and just made to feel like we were the oldest of friends.  As we were taken to our table the atmosphere around us was warm, charming and inviting. Once seated we were again greeted by terrific staff who’s object was no secret they were there to make sure our dining experience was going to be great and it was. The food was terrific the wine was delectable. Ours steaks were the best we had had for a long time. We know good food and good service when we see it, my partner and I are eating out almost 4 to 5 times a week.  As commercial realtors we entertain a lot of clients in a lot of restaurants.  It really was our pleasure to drop in and have a great meal. You’re on our “A” list.

    First I would like to compliment you on the wonderful dinner we had.
I have to say your chefs are excellent, the food not only tasted great but the presentation was awesome. It was my husbands birthday and my father in law loves to treat my husband for dinner. My brother in law flies in from Florida about twice a year and Dirty Dans is always on the list of things to do.
  The server was really nice. My father in law is hard of hearing .  The young lady serving us was making sure she spoke directly to my father-in-law and he was able to hear her. I think one of the reasons he likes your establishment is that the background noise is not loud.  Too much background noise is overwhelming for a person with hearing aides.  We had a wonderful time.

I want to thank you, Kathy and ALL your staff for making our son's rehearsal dinner such a great success.  Everyone had a great time and the food was, again, fabulous.
 
In fact, many who ordered the halibut would love to know what the sauce was made of.  You had mentioned that you were trying a new recipe, (adding cilantro)  and we'd all love to have it.  If you feel obliged to part with it, just send to my e-mail.  Also, the coconut prawns were to die for so any hints to their preparation would be appreciated as well.  I've made some similar before but yours were the best.  We also loved the mushrooms.  In fact, I only got two mushrooms and one prawn, so guess they were a big hit!!
 
We are recommending your restaurant to everyone traveling in that area, and will return again when we get back in town, which will be almost Thanksgiving.

Hi Steve,
I wanted to write and tell you what a wonderful meal my family had there on 1/10.  My husband and two stepsons flew in from San Diego and Los Angeles to attend my husband's mother's memorial on 1/11.  We were tired and hungry and just happened to drive by your restaurant.  We actually thought it was a bar.  Anyway, we had the most wonderful meal there we've had in a long time.  The ribs, the salmon and the ribeye were all first rate.  No other meal was quite good enough after Dirty Dan's.  In fact my stepsons STILL are talking about it.

My friends and I enjoyed our dinner at your restaurant very much last Sunday night.  The food was great and to be given a ride home by Kathy was so nice.  We were so impressed that she was so worried about our safe return to our hotel that she insisted on giving us a ride.
